LAS VEGAS – May 21, 2015 – It’s been called “Spectacular” by Los Angeles Magazine, “Cutting Edge” by Entertainment Weekly and heralded as “A unique postmodern cabaret taking the city by storm” by Vanity Fair.  This June “For The Record: BAZ” is coming to Las Vegas.  Produced by Cirque du Soleil Theatrical specifically for LIGHT Nightclub, “BAZ” is a 360­-degree, completely immersive theatrical concert experience. It is part rock concert, part nightclub, part musical theater blended together to bring audiences into the musical mind of filmmaker Baz Luhrmann.

An extension of the already successful programming of LIGHT Nightclub, “BAZ” will run Wednesday – Monday at 8:00 PM. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays audiences will have the opportunity to stay on as LIGHT transitions into one of the hottest nightlife venues on The Strip.  Preview performances begin June 19 and opening night is scheduled for June 26.  Tickets start at $55, and can be purchased at BazLasVegas.com.

 “When LIGHT opened at Mandalay Bay we committed to bringing engaging entertainment into the nightlife world. ‘BAZ’ is an extension of that at the highest level,” said Leu Strope, Managing Director of LIGHT and Executive Producer of “BAZ” in Las Vegas.  “The production  is exhilarating, it’s intimate, it’s just a little bit gritty and it’s unlike anything The Strip has seen before. It fits perfectly into our mission to keep LIGHT at the vanguard of Las Vegas nightlife.”

In the 90-minute production, an ensemble cast of true triple threats and a knock out live band take audience members on a captivating ride inspired by the cinematic and musical films of famed director Baz Luhrmann. The star-crossed lovers of “Romeo + Juliet,” “Moulin Rouge” and “The Great Gatsby” collide in this captivating concert mash-up, where the music and moments from the movies spring to life. The production features a six-piece live band playing an epic soundtrack that includes “Lady Marmalade,” “Kissing You,” “Love Is In The Air,” “Crazy In Love,” and much more.

 “When we discovered For The Record we instantly knew that their vision of turning popular cinema into immersive entertainment would be a perfect match for Las Vegas,” said Scott Zeiger, President of Cirque du Soleil Theatrical.  “We are excited about this unique partnership and thrilled to bring ‘BAZ’ to LIGHT at Mandalay Bay in this uniquely staged residency.”

Presented at LIGHT, the custom stage design will envelop audiences in a nightly celebration as they are swept away by these enduring love stories and the epic soundtracks that brought them to life on the big screen.

Performing completely original arrangements of hit songs and multiple iconic characters, “BAZ” will open with cast members from its original Los Angeles run including Ginifer King, Constantine Rousouli, Ciaran McCarthy, Ruby Lewis, Olivia Harris, James Byous, Jason Paige, Zach Villa, Derek Ferguson, Briana Cuoco and Amy Ryerson.
